Colorado Gov. Jared Polis says Vice President Kamala Harris’ “forward-looking, joyous vision” for the future of the country is exciting for many people in his state.

“Colorado is a state where unaffiliated voters are a strong plurality,” Polis said in an interview with PBS News on Night 3 of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. “They’re 48 percent of voters in our state, they’ll be over 50 [percent] soon, but Donald Trump does not appeal to those voters.”
Polis believes that having Harris at the top of the ticket has boosted Democrats’ chances of claiming control of the House.

“I would call it moving from an uphill battle to a dead heat,” he said. In Colorado, Democratic Rep. Yadira Caraveo is running for reelection in the state’s 8th Congressional District, where she won in 2022 by fewer than 500 votes.
Polis also said he was thrilled by Harris’ decision to choose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate.
“Governors deal with crisis, they deal with fires, they deal with highways, they deal with crime. These are not partisan issues, and Tim Walz is somebody who rolled up his sleeves and got things done,” he said.
Walz formally accepted the vice presidential nomination Wednesday, a day before Harris takes the stage as the official nominee.
